ok, I have had a lot of requests on how I made this so I'm going to try to share my directions with you. Some things may not be exact. When I make things it's like a recipe.....I add a bit of this and then a dash of that...no specifics, so tweak for yourself and make it your own.
I do feel honored that it was liked so much. Thank you to everyone who have commented on it.
Coaster Calendar Mini Book Instructions
Supplies:
2-4x4 coasters
2-photo hangers (I used CTMH Photo Hangers)
10 inch length of ribbon (I used CTMH Cocoa Grosgrain)
decorator paper and cardstock (I used CTMH's Serendipity Paper Pack)
Embellishments for the front of the book (I used the flower die cuts from Serendipity, CTMH Colonial White brads, Various CTMH ribbons for the binding, CTMH Friendship Dangles, CTMH Clear Button, CTMH Chocolate Waxy Flax, CTMH Dutch Blue Re-Inker, Ceramcoat Paint, CTMH Dimensional Elements BookPlates)
2x3 mini calendar page (Mine is from http://www.vippies.com/)
flapless clear envelope sleeves (these are from http://www.clearbags.com/) these do not come in a perfect 4x4 size, they come in 4" x 4 1/8" (102x105) item #B4X4NF , I just trimmed the 1/8 inch off the top of the sleeve, this is what made my mini page protector
CTMH Chocolate Medley Embellishments
CTMH's Liquid Glass
CTMH Chocolate Distressing Ink Pad
CTMH's August SOTM, Today's Date
various other CTMH stamp sets to decorate the pages
scallop circle punch
1 3/8 inch circle punch
Bind It All Machine and binding coils (I got mine at a local scrapbooking store that is now closed, do an internet search, there are plenty of places that sell it
-cover both sides of coasters with printed paper and trim
-Use Chocolate distressing ink to color and distress edges of covered coasters
-trim the top of 6 clear sleeves to make them 4x4
-cut 12 pages 3 1/2wx3 7/8h from cardstock or designer paper of choice
-mat calendar pages with cardstock cut 2 1/4x3 3/8
-attach calendar to one of each of the 12 pages
-embellish pages with stamps, decorations of your choice.
-I suggest going ahead and binding your book and pages together at this point before decorating to prevent it becoming to bulky to bind, follow the directions of the binding machine to bind the 2 covers and the 6 clear pages together.
-slide the 12 pages into the 6 sleeves, back to back, after decorating them
-cut 6 pieces of a light colored cardstock 3 3/8wx3 3/4h and stamp journaling lines on both sides of it. This will make the lined information pages that are slid between each page
-punch 12 circle scallops from your choice of cardstock.
-stamp each month from the SOTM Today's Date set and punch out with circle punch and adhere to the center of a scallop circle
-sandwich the lined piece of cardstock between 2 consecutive month scallop circles, back to back to each other, and hanging halfway off the top of the page, this page will slide in between the 2 calendar pages in each clear sleeve. I know this sounds confusing but, your just sandwiching 2 month pages back to back with the lined page in between in each clear sleeve
-Decorate the front of the book as you like (I decorated mine with 2 die cut Serendipity flowers, distressed with Chocolate Ink, and tied together with a clear button and chocolate waxy flax and then tied the "Love" friendship dangle to that. I stamped the year onto a piece of cardstock, and attached it to the back of the Design Element Bookplate, which was painted with Ceramcoat paint tinted with Ocean Blue Re-Inker. This was decorated with the small flowers from the CTMH Chocolate Medley Embellishment set and CTMH ribbon. All of this was attached to the front with CTMH's Liquid Glass (BEST stuff ever invented in my opinion!! :o), I then tied various pieces of ribbon to the binding coils.
-tie the book shut by running the piece of 10 inch ribbon through the photo hangers and tie a bow
I hope I didn't miss any steps. I think these will make nice inexpensive Christmas gifts for this year.
Enjoy!!
